Meet Paul Saffery

Paul graduated from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile as an Industrial Engineer specialising in Software Development. He also has a MSc in Engineering from the same university.

Paul started his career in Chile developing educational software for children. In 1997 he and his wife relocated to the UK and he continued his career at Vega Group in Derby, where he worked for three years as a Senior Software Engineer. In 2001 he returned to Chile where he worked for two years at CORFO, Chile's government agency for economic development. He joined SilverDisc in December 2003 as our IT Director.

Completely fluent in English and Spanish, Paul has been invited to speak twice at Search Engine Strategies Latino in Miami, and once at SMX in Santiago. He is a yearly contributor at Search Engine MSc (Master en Buscadores), at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, in Barcelona. 

Paul's specialities include strategic vision in software development, and developing strategies, logistics, processes, tools and documentation to maximise the value SilverDisc provides to its clients.

Outside of work, Paul likes travelling with his family and cooking. He plays the piano and enjoys music generally. He also enjoys walks in the countryside and fly fishing down in the Chilean Patagonia.

One thing is for sure: if your website is not mobile-friendly, it is not ideally suited to online marketing. Google is one of the largest sources of traffic for SilverDisc's clients - clients that have recognised SilverDisc's ability to make Google fall in love with their websites.

SMS messages are a widely available communication means. They don't interrupt your clients like a phone call would do, they are short and direct which means your clients are more likely to read them compared to an email, they don't go into a SPAM folder, and are very reasonably priced.

My first encounter with SilverDisc happened back in May 1997, when I was looking for employment in the UK. I was in my early 30's and had lived all my life in Chile until then. SilverDisc were working with an old friend of mine at HarperCollins. As a result, I met Eric Barfield, one of SilverDisc's founders, and we could tell straight away we both had similar mindsets when it comes to software development: robust, slick, efficient software practices, maximising reusability and automation.
