Analytics Academy : Google's New Learning Platform

At the beginning of October, Google launched their Analytics Academy.  Billed as Google’s new learning platform, it will offer courses in digital analytics for marketers and analysts seeking to increase their analytics knowledge with a view to improving business performance.

The first course, Digital Analytics Fundamentals, began on 8th October. Running for three weeks, it covers five areas of Analytics including best practices for collecting data, using Google Analytics data and understanding Google Analytics reports. At the end of the course, there is a final assessment, which has a pass mark of 80%.

Everyone in SilverDisc’s marketing team watched and read the lessons delivered by Google’s Justin Cutroni, before taking the final assessment. I’m pleased to report that everyone passed the assessment, and most people in the team scored 100%!

The course is fairly basic and is delivered from a high-level, non-technical perspective.  Our newer members of the team found it the most useful but the longer-serving members of the SilverDisc team found it did reinforce  some of their knowledge too. That said, it definitely shouldn’t be seen as a substitute for the more complex and challenging Google Analytics Individual (IQ) qualification.

We’re looking forward to finding out what the next Analytics Academy course will be.
