Using Facebook to Increase Sales & Interest on Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is just over two weeks away – so if you’ve not done so already you need to consider your marketing efforts for the event.

Facebook is the perfect platform from which to promote any offers and deals you have for the day.

How to Increase Sales

Our ideas below could help increase your sales this Mother’s Day as well as increase your Facebook following.

Run Facebook Ads:

If you have something to promote this Mother’s Day then tell people about it via a sponsored Facebook ad. Your ad could take people to your Facebook Page or your website – wherever you’re promoting the deal.

Update Existing Facebook Ads:

If you’re already running sponsored Facebook ads then they should be updated to include relevant Mother’s Day images and details of special offers. Make sure you add plenty of different ads so people don’t keep seeing the same one. Remember to tag ad URLs with tracking parameters to monitor sales/website visits.

Reviews:

If you have happy customers from last Mother’s Day and they were kind enough to review your product or service draw on what they enjoyed most and feature this in your Facebook marketing efforts. For example, if you’re a pub offering a Mother’s Day lunch deal you may have a status update that goes along the lines of: “The Mums who came and had lunch with us last Mother’s Day told us they loved their FREE bottle of bubbly! Why don’t you come and join us for the same fun this year?”

Competitions:

Consider running a competition where people can win Mother’s Day prizes. Make sure you do this in plenty of time – people will want to receive their gift on or before Mother’s Day, not two weeks after the day has passed. You could offer a voucher for money off a meal or a hotel stay, perhaps. Their entry into your competition would be done in return for their signup to your newsletter or by them ‘Liking’ your Facebook Page. This competition idea is suitable for all businesses willing to stump up a prize.

Encourage Conversation:

In the lead up to Mother’s Day get people talking about the event. You could get people talking on your Page Wall about their Mums. Perhaps ask people what gifts they plan to get their Mum, what they love most about their Mum or their most embarrassing Mum moment. You could even get the Mums talking – what they love most about being one and so on.

With whatever you decide to do make sure your efforts are consistent. For example, if you are running a special Mother’s Day package (that is not specific to Facebook) then remember to feature this strongly on your website too. People could well see your offer on Facebook and then visit your site separately – you want to make sure everything they’re looking for is easy to find.
