Use Your website or blog to generate passive income

Towards the end of last year, SilverDisc released the helicopter and advanced rotorcraft informational site www.futurerotor.com, operated and maintained by the inspirational Andrew Healey. Andrew started his career in the Royal Navy, leaving twelve years later with an airline transport pilot’s licence, a Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air and a growing interest in writing.

After a helicopter crash, Andrew was left an instant paraplegic, but he learnt to walk again and even recovered a flying licence. Still not quite fully able-bodied, he launched a new PR career based on journalism and creative writing for companies within the aerospace industry.

Futurerotor was born as a platform for sharing information and news about the latest and greatest rotorcraft and cutting-edge aviation technology.

The site features Andrew’s wonderful content with strategically placed advert blocks from Google AdWords. The position of the blocks is important and must be considered at the design stage. This helps to ensure that you don’t place the advertising in an area where it will be subject to “Banner Blindness”.

Using the Drupal 7 Platform, we built a custom site from the ground up that is ready to display adverts and earn from the content. Advertisements were strategically placed using a combination of the Drupal Views module and the extremely powerful templating system that Drupal ships with.

Andrew has been busy adding content to the site over the last few months so please head over there and take a look around.

If you would like to discuss the options open to yourself, or your company regarding website design, development or monetisation, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
